Evolutionary Computation for Dynamic Capacitated Arc Routing Problem

چکیده
In this chapter, a new dynamic capacitated arc routing problem (CARP) is defined and investigated. Compared with the static CARP and other dynamic CARP investigated by the existing researches, the new dynamic CARP is more general and closer to reality, and thus is more worthwhile to be solved. Due to the stochastic factors included in the dynamic CARP, the objective is not to obtain the optimal solution in a specific environment, but to find a robust solution that shows good performance in all the possible environments. For the dynamic CARP, a robustness measure based on repair operator is defined. The corresponding repair operator is designed according to the real-world considerations. Then, the benchmark instances of the dynamic CARP are generated by extending from the static counterparts to facilitate evaluating potential approaches. After that, the preliminary analysis for the fitness landscape of the dynamic CARP is conducted by experimental studies. Model and Solution Approach for Multi objective-multi commodity Capacitated Arc Routing Problem with Fuzzy Demand
The capacitated arc routing problem (CARP) is one of the most important routing problems with many applications in real world situations. In some real applications such as urban waste collection and etc., decision makers have to consider more than one objective and investigate the problem under uncertain situations where required edges have demand for more than one type of commodity. So, in thi...
متن کاملEvolutionary Algorithms for Capacitated Arc Routing problems with Time Windows
The Capacitated Arc Routing Problem (CARP) involves vehicles routing, serving a set of arcs in a network. This NP hard problem is extended to take into account time windows, entailing a new and hard theoretical model in arc routing called the CARPTW (CARP with time windows). The CARPTW is useful for modeling urban waste collection or winter gritting. This paper presents this new model and a mem...
متن کاملA Dynamic Capacitated Arc Routing Problem with Time- Dependent Service Costs
This paper describes a dynamic capacitated arc routing problem motivated from winter gritting applications. In this problem, the service cost on each arc is a piecewise linear function of the time of beginning of service. This function also exhibits an optimal time interval where the service cost is minimal. Since the timing of an intervention is crucial, the dynamic aspect considered in this w...

Distributed computation models have been widely used to enhance the performance of traditional evolutionary algorithms, and have been implemented on parallel computers to speed up the computation. In this paper, we introduce a multi-agent model conceived as a conceptual and practical framework for distributed genetic algorithms used both to reduce execution time and get closer to optimal soluti...

The Capacitated Arc Routing Problem (CARP) is a challenging combinatorial optimization problem with many real-world applications, e.g., salting route optimization and fleet management. There have been many attempts at solving CARP using heuristic and meta-heuristic approaches, including evolutionary algorithms. However, almost all such attempts formulate CARP as a single-objective problem altho...
